Grainger Call Center

The 40,000 square foot Grainger Call Center resides on a 38-acre site in Waterloo, IA and houses more than 200 call center employees working in shifts 24 hours per day.  When Larson Engineering was called upon to provide the MEP/FP and structural engineering design, the original goal for the building was to achieve basic LEED certification. Ultimately, the project was submitted as LEED Gold achieving energy efficiencies that included a 30% reduction in lighting power and an overall energy performance improvement of 24% above a baseline building.  Domestic water use was reduced by more than 40% by specifying low-flow urinals and lavatories combined with dual flushing toilets.
