Commissioning
The rapid growth and expansion of the railroad industry is breathing new life into abandoned, neglected or decommissioned rail lines. Our experienced team understands the importance of re-commissioning former railroads and railroad right-of-ways. Through due diligence and feasibility studies, Larson Engineering can assist you in the evaluation process of an abandoned line.
After the determination is made to resurrect the rail line, Larson Engineering will collaborate and provide options to bring the line back into service. This assessment will include inspections and evaluation of the existing line followed by recommendations for the remediation process.
The remediation options will include a thorough review of costs and economics, the possibilities of reuse and rehabilitation of existing materials such as ties and track, material procurement, collaboration with the mainline for switching and construction administration.
