Adaptive reuse of a six-story concrete framed historic building that was originally built in 1928. A seismic upgrade of the lateral force resisting system was performed to meet the 2000 International Building Code by utilizing a dynamic analysis procedure. Masonry shear walls were added to resist the seismic forces as required and located so as to not affect the historical character of the building.
In place structural floor load testing was performed to verify existing live load floor capacities to meet new tenant use requirements. Final design resulted in a historic structure that has been structurally updated to meet modern requirements.
