U.S. Courthouse
Brooklyn, NY
Larson Engineering was the engineer of record for the façade of this 14-story Federal Courthouse. The façade utilized glass, metal panels, stainless steel fins and limestone. One of the special requirements for this project was the blast resistant design for the curtain wall system.
This $222 million dollar building is located in the Civic Center of downtown Brooklyn. It houses 16 district courtrooms, nine magistrate courtrooms and 29 judges’ chambers. Designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates, the project consists of three architectural elements: the six-story existing courthouse, a six-story connecting entry hall, and the new 14-story courthouse.
